The First by Deb M

On the 1st day of this new year I actually had an idea for this 1st challenge. I pieced together scraps of fabric from my 1st quilt class, then I discovered the number 1 is sometimes referred to as unity in mathematics and what would be better than a bit of unity as we head into this year.

It is the 1st time I’ve done chain stitch lettering (which I need to work on) and I did Kantha stitching with perle 8 thread (#ad) to put the top and back together. I learned Kantha in an Alison Glass class. It’s approximately 11”x11”.

Created by Deb McQueen for the Project QUILTING 14.1 The First One Challenge.
