Conquer a Fear by Nancy I

I picked the Swedish Heart Table Runner pattern from the INNOVA web site to learn to use many of the embroidery functions on my INNOVA longarm sewing machine. Quite a while ago, I ordered the fabric, thread, and Appli-stick which they recommended. I've been afraid to try various embroidery computer functions on my machine. If not for this challenge, things would still be sitting in a pile.

On Sunday I sewed on the borders and loaded the backing, batting, and runner onto my machine.

It took all day on Monday for my husband to set up the machine to embroider the border. I realized I had chosen fabrics from the layers in the layer cake that were too busy and the embroidery thread was too dull. You could hardly see the embroidery that took so long to do.

On Tuesday it took all day to figure out the digital patterns to embroider one heart.

On Wednesday, trying different methods, two more hearts were embroidered. I was ready to quit.

On Thursday, two more hearts were embroidered.

On Friday the last two of the 7 hearts were finished. We had to mask the hearts and the border in order to quilt a digital pattern in the background.

On Saturday we chose an embroidery heart pattern to go just inside of the border. Trimmed the runner and sewed on the binding.

If not for my husband, I would have failed this mission. I know that sewing the thread on the fabric to duplicate what is on the screen is not easy, even after one learns how the various embroidery functions operate.
