After watching the
Missouri Star 54-40 or Fight Freestyle Quilt Tutorial, I wanted to see if I could use what fabric I had to make a decent size quilt in a week. I've given many quilts away to the kids, grandkids, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews but not all of my own beds have quilts. I liked the alternating blocks of 54-40 with the churn dash block. My blocks finished at 9 inches. I made 7 rows with 6 blocks in each row.
After adding borders, my quilt ended up being 69 x 78 inches. Because I really had to hurry, I didn't stress about color placement. I've decided I like the hodge-podge look!
