Books—YAY!!! I love books. Inspiration came from this beautiful book fabric, my love of mysteries and a comment from my sister, “…a Nancy Drew staircase riff would be fun.” My parents liked to read and the local library was on the next block. It seemed like I was there all the time as a kid. Apparently the staff thought so too—when I was 16, they offered me a job as a page, later at the circulation desk. I loved it!
While I read lots of fiction and some non-fiction, I kept coming back to Nancy Drew, my introduction to mysteries. I soon moved on to Agatha Christie, and then a whole new world of mystery writers. Some of my favorite detectives are listed on the backside of the door. My interests range from classics of mid-20th century, a medieval monk, a Roman informer and his daughter. Contemporary detectives with special connections include cooking, quilting, a tea shop, Indigenous People, Chicago ( my home town), Door County and an Armenian American detective. All offer hours of enjoyment and now I have a piece to remember them.
Many thanks for this great challenge!

Such a cute idea!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome project, Kathie!! I'm a fan of mysteries, as well, and was dumbfounded when our local library did away with that section.
