Sunrise and Sunset in the City

“Sunrise and Sunset in the city” 57 x 87

The challenge is the Brighter the better.  I am not really a “bright” kind of quilter and my goal was to use only my stash for these challenges. When I opened my fabric drawer there was a jellyroll we received when we attended Mill House’s batik presentation.

After some research on the internet on jellyroll pattern I found Samelia’s Mum site where she gives a tutorial on her sugar almond quilt.  I didn’t follow the pattern exactly and when it was done was not happy with the black portion, I didn’t think it had enough size variation, but when I turned it on its side I noticed it reminded me of a city skyline.

My favorite part is the binding!!!! Love a bias striped!

  1. This is so modern looking!! I like the contrast with the black. Working outside your comfort level seems to agree with you.
