Bright Local Color by Mary G

Here is my entry for the Bright Challenge! I call it Bright Local Color. I used the AccuQuilt die Local Color and bright Kona Cottons. I used 6 main colors and then chose secondary colors to compliment them. At one point I had over 400 pins in the pieces as I pieced in large batches.

My quilt is roughly 84 x 65 inches. I had more rows cut out but I was done piecing so they will become a pillow or a bag or some other project.  This is my first time piecing curves so it was quite a challenge. I sewed this at the Electric Needle in Madison, WI. I quilted this with turquoise thread on the long arm and used the magic binding technique for the first time.

  1. So pretty. I like all the colors and am assuming the little orange peel slices are the middle colors. Is it appliqued to the block or pieced in?

  3. I love this, and what a great use for that die. But your first crack at curves?! Underachiever.
