Teachable Moment by Jana C

My grandson is visiting this week on spring break. He had a hole in his shirt and asked me if I’d mend. As I was working on this project, he was watching what I was doing and helping me make decisions. I told him the theme and explained what the saying meant. I could use his shirt as an example. If the shirt was not repaired, every time he wore it and washed it, the tear would get bigger. It would take longer to fix the bigger the hole got. He saved me time in the long run. Teachable moment.

I wanted to make a kaleidoscope of the word time. Started by dividing my paper and wrote the word in the triangle filling all the space.

Traced into each section to make sure it looked right. Made the pattern, cut out the fabric and started compiling the letters.

Good to go.

Machine applique the letters on. Used sewing machine to make border. SAVESNINESAVESNINE.
