Magical Meanderings by Jen Mulder

"Magical Meanderings" - for the Stitch in time challenge 9.5

My first thought upon hearing the challenge was mending.    I don't enjoy mending, and thought that if I didn't do the mending, I could just make something upcycled.

I took 5 flannel shirts and cut them down into squares - then stitched these into my background.  I created the unicorn applique from 3 pairs of jeans.   Then, I cut down the rest of the jeans to make the three side borders.  I topstitched the denim seams open with a red thread.

I used a flannel for the backer, and quilted with a large meander in navy blue thread and bound it with red flannel from one of the shirts.

This quilt finishes at 70 x 70.   I quilt in Madison, WI  USA
