Essential Oil Holder by Mary

I needed a new holder for my essential oils. I've made a few of these before, and I make them by quilting 2 fabric scraps and a scrap of batting, each 6"x21".

For this one, I decided to also use a scrappy binding with 8 different fabrics to make this project look a little more interesting. Once the holder is done it is 3.5"x21" with room for 10 essential oil bottles.

I've included 2 pictures: one of it flat on the table, one with the oils inside.

8 “O” Clocks by Debb Hauck

My piece is called  8 "O" Clocks,  its 7.5 x 9.5, (bet you can't guess who forgot to add seam allowances), and created from inherited fabric, fused applique, machine sewn and hand quilted.  I live in Richland, MI.

August Heat by Mary Gabrich

Here is my entry for Project Quilting – Eight is Great. I call it August Heat.  When I thought of 8 the eighth month came to mind.

August is usually a very warm month and living in Sheboygan WI, on the shores of Lake Michigan, you go to the beach to cool off. What better thing to take than a quilted beach towel. This towel measures 47 inches by 74 inches. The design was pieced using 8 batik fabrics and then appliqued on to terry cloth. I quilted this in Madison WI.

Project QUILTING Challenge 8.1 – Eight is Great

I was inspired by the art gallery painting to experiment with layering.  I found the work of Carol Ann Waugh, Stitch and Slash, very helpful to the process of creating the layered look.  I appreciated the open ended creativity that the challenge choice allowed for rather than having to use a specific block pattern. In this case I have used eight layers to create this 8 by 11 inch art quilt called Going Around in Circles. 

I have decided to use the Project Quilting challenges to experiment with new techniques that I haven't done before.    I used this Stitch and Slash circular technique and I also faced the back of the quilt where I typically put on a binding.

Hexi Coasters by Barbara H

For the first Project QUILITNG Challenge – Eight is Great - I made my DIL a hexi table mat for her birthday, and made a hexi coaster from the scraps. 

She asked for more, so here they are - eight coasters, each made with eight pieces of fabric (the center hexi, six surrounding pieces, plus the backing), not counting the batting. I used scraps, of course, and tutorials from Canoe Ridge Creations and Freshly Pieced.

BB 8 by Tracy R.

BB 8, Creativity meets practicality. While in the Wisconsin northwoods started drafting an image of 8 bit/ pixilated BB 8. Decided to go a more manageable size 31 x 41 finished. Included 8 of my Star Wars collector pins for a finishing touch.

This is my first attempt at applique and flange binding. New Year "resolution" met, actually finished a project. Yeah.

Gregory’s Whacky Eight by Jen Mulder

Here's my entry for challenge 1 of Project QUILTING

I call it Gregory's Whacky Eight.  I have wanted an excuse to do an 8 repeat stack-n-whack quilt for a while and this challenge was perfect for that.   The repeat on the focal fabric was 23 inches, so I had to get 5 yards to get the 8 repeats, then I stacked and whacked all of it to create the 42 blocks that would finish at 10 inches each.   It was a tad too busy for my taste when there wasn't sashing, so I added those and magically it measures 74 x 86 inches.  

The focal fabric and the backer (not pictured) are both from Gregory's Garden collection.  The Purple and Prussian are both Kona Cotton Solids.  I create in Madison, WI USA
