Portland Oregon by Lisa P

I live in Portland, Oregon, the largest city in Oregon which is known for its wide variety of parks, including the Smallest Park in the World, according to Guinness Book of Records.  Because of all the parks, I used flowers and leaves to cover most of the seams in this crazy quilt. In the center, I used blackwork to show iconic parts of Portland; the Portland sign which is highly recognizable to anyone from here, one of our many bridges, and Mt. Hood, which can be seen from practically everywhere in Portland.

I decided to do this one as a crazy quilt because I love crazy quilting and because I found out about this challenge the night before I was leaving for a three day work trip and wanted a piece I could work on while away. I intend to challenge myself further by doing a different type of quilt for each theme; paper piecing, whole quilt, needle turn applique, etc.

Created by Lisa Pearson for the Project QUILTING Hometown Proud Challenge.

  2. This is lovely! And it's wonderful that it's a circle - love the change of pace from squares and rectangles!
