Sky Color by Jacomina

Since the peachy colored stash was out for the guild’s BOM, I limited myself to using those scraps. Batiks are so wonderful.

Sky Color by Maren R

this week you made me grow:)
I checked my sky pictures and more than 90 %are just blue with a lot of cerulean. Well but there are others.

I first wanted to make a new hat but then we got Calima and the window in the tiny house of my friend where i am staying is so draughty i thought i make a quilted curtain roll instead. And using one of the sunset pictures as insiration.

I started with the bottom very curvy piecing and found by wednesday that i have to change the procedure or i will never finish by sunday.

And then this morning when i did a final checking i found i sewed somehow wrong and the moon drifted to the right instead of the left🥴some applique clouds covering the old moon and a new moon. Tata.
And this evening i finished. And i love it.

I missed my frame enormously.

45 hours work
135cm x 120cm
partly curved piecing
Aplique
Reverse Aplique (moon and mirror moon)
quilted in the ditch and some metallic stiches in the moons and water.

Sunsets in NC by Carol P

This is the first placemat in a series depicting sunsets seen from my NC kitchen window. I worked from my original photo, one of hundreds I’ve taken in the last 15 yrs.

The backing makes this placemat reversible and still reflects the sky colors of the sunset.

This is a progress picture showing the photo on my phone and a cardboard mat I use to determine the areas I want to use when laying out my fabrics.

PQ 15.2 Sky Colors

My quilt is 7”x5”.

This was created for an online challenge called Project Quilting. You get a week to complete a whole quilt based on a theme. Prizes will be given out by random drawing. Each week is a different theme.

This week’s theme is Sky Colors (that are not blue)

Here is the link to see all the entries: https://kimlapacek.com/2024/01/15-2-sky-_color-challenge-2-of-project-quilting-season-15.html

I decided to make all 6 PQ challenges 7”x5” this year so I’ll have a set of postcards when I’m done. For the label, I’m writing on the back with a fabric marker.

Passport to the Skies by Penny

Hi! I am Penny Ten Pas, this is my first time entering this challenge.

I am calling my piece Passport to the Skies. I was able to use up small scraps to put together an abstract lavender sky the size of a passport.

Here is a pic of me in my sewing room aka basement.
