Inside Out by Teri D

I made a North Carolina Star quilt. It took me a little while to figure out how to do the Inside-Out Challenge. Then I remembered, I had bought some black fabric a long time ago for a quilt project. I liked the back better than the front, and was planning to do that for the quilt. The quilt did not get made, but I still had the fabric in my stash. I looked through my stash to look at all of the backs of my other fabrics to decide which ones would work well with the black fabric. I used an Accuquilt (#ad) Go die to cut out the fabrics quickly.

'Back to Front'

I started this piece with hand dyed fabric with some different colour's for the feather as it goes up.. Black fabric over that and chalked feather design.. and few others...then free motion stitched on the chalk lines..then to cut out bits in the stitched areas.. not realizing the smaller.. the more difficult and so fiddle fiddle!!..

Took ages because the layers are sooo close.. (altho there were a few 'faulty' snips!.. covered like band aids!).. Quilted 'quite' finely around feature cutouts and really enjoyed it!!

Inside out by

I made the Hemingway pouch (#ad) with a crazy quilted vest inside out. Zipper and binding on the outside and an appliquéd heart as nod to the interior.

Inside Out by Valerie M

The first thing I thought of was the animated movie Inside Out. All the emotions we have on the inside can stay there or can come out. Do we let them? Ponderings.

Cut Time, Quilt More

Blue Moon by Jessica K

The name of my art quilt is Blue Moon

I wanted to try new techniques throughout this challenge; and this time I used a quilting bar for the first time.

I appliquéd the moons onto the quilt using an inside-out technique, also a first!

Another first for me was that I faced my art quilt; and what a wonderful way to finish an art quilt!

The dimensions are 40” x 22”

Inside Out by Jacomina

Sticking to the theme of using what happens to come into my hands the week of the challenge, I helped to clean out the sewing legacy of someone moving into a retirement community. Included were two flannels: dark blue and red, printed with scotties. That reminded me of the guild's BOM blocks I won one year (very long time ago, buried as UFO), 22 appliqued scotty dog blocks.

This is the first time I made a rag quilt: a prototype using two blocks. I sashed them with scotty flannel, put white flannel in the middle, outline quilted the scotty, with the blue flannel on the back. Two blocks is enough to cover my daughter's doll bed for her American girl doll. Maybe, some day, my granddaughter will want to play with her mother's doll.

Good thing I made a prototype. It is not easy to cut just up to the seam. I may not use this method for the remaining 20 blocks which "should" be made into a donation quilt.

Moonbeams Charity Stitch Along 2024

little turtle by Maren R

Wonderful challenge. Perusing my picture gallery for pictures which strung a cord.

Found plenty but especially loved the little turtle from Muscat.

Since i lost my beloved hat there and purchased a simple black one which needs some furbishing i decided to make a turtle for my hat.

On the travel couldn't bring my sewing machine in the hand luggage and had to sew by hand.....

Inside Out by Jean D

I have been experimenting with cork fabric…so easy to work with!  I decided to go functional this week and make an eyeglass case.  My cat is promoting the theme inside out since when he is out he wants to come in and when he is in he wants to go out.

Slippery Blanket by Caroline

Had a 💡 moment… Was stretching on my chair… head to the floor… saw these two fabrics under the table and bang!!!!

The theme gave me in one instant the permission to do “raw edges”!!!! I have this blanket on the back burner forever and one!!

I could not come to terms with how to do a nice hem with these soooo slippery fabrics ( Minky and fake velvet)!! And voilà! Done.. raw edges!!! So liberating!! Thank-you very much.

Neck Warmer by Deborah R

Winters in Massachusetts can be very cold. For this project I decided to make a neck warmer for my walks outside instead of a bulky scarf! You can see you simply slip over your head.

Santa Panel by Barb R

SANTA PANEL

For the Project QUILTING 15.3 Inside Out challenge, I decided to make a wall hanging that I had. Being a small project, I did not want to bind it. So I layered the batting on the bottom, then the backing fabric, and lastly the panel face down. I pinned all layers together and sewed them, leaving an opening. I trimmed the excess batting and fabric, trimmed the corners and turned the project Inside Out.

I then quilted it, outlining the animals and Santa. I free motioned in the sky. I straight stitched around the project in several places.
