Back to Minnesota/Wisconsin by Robyn W

"Back to Minnesota/Wisconsin”

I immediately knew I wanted to do something related to our annual winter sojourn in Madison but it was lunch with a couple of PQ friends (you know who you are!) who suggested turning my geese into trees.

The trees represent our drive from Minnesota to Madison and back via the Duluth-Superior route where the landscape is filled with several varieties of conifers and Tamaracks hugging the shores of Lake Superior. I’ve done minimal quilting, preferring to once again use my InkTense pens to depict the lake and its shoreline.

Alas, the colors aren’t as intense as I’d planned; they seem to have washed out which isn’t supposed to happen. Hmm… The water in the middle represents the Mighty Mississippi which divides the two states and whose Headwaters are located in Minnesota’s oldest state park, Itasca, just 25 miles from us.

Since I plan to make this a traveling quilt, I’ve included two hanging sleeves so I can flip-flop the quilt, depending on where we are.
