This is my Snail’s Trail block. It’s not my favorite block and I had idea of what to do with it.
I used batik and African fabric from Ghana. I wanted a more diffused look and with less contrast to blur the block. It’s 11” x 11” (smaller that my usual 12” x 12”). I will kiss and tell...if you look closely at the pattern, I made a mistake someplace and the seam overstretched further than it should. I added camouflage buttons, the color of the fabric to cover my booboo. Just snitching’ on myself.
It’s machine pieced with Heirloom batting and cotton backing. It’s hand quilted with DMC embroidery thread.
I used sari silk for the borders and machine stitched with monofilament thread. I added beads and sari silk to make the tassel. I feel much better about the snails trail block and may even use it again.
