So, I just could not get my binding on in 10 min! Here is my finished pixel quilt. Robot Love. It is 46x65 inches and was made primarily of scrap.

Flowering Cactus by Carol K

I was so looking forward to making my great big flowering cactus.

As usual life makes changes to our best laid plans.

I changed the size to make the deadline.

Turns out I just kept trimming crooked, but, I really like the 5" x 10" mug rug size.



I added a few decorative stitches and zigzagged the edges. This little fellow is done and I am happy to have participated in the




PQ 10.4 pixel challenge. These are all commercial quilt cottons, cotton batting and cotton thread.

He's Coming by Barbara M

“He’s Coming!” Is approximately 42” square and was made in Tucson, AZ.  I found Santa online at patternjam.com. This quilt will go to Ronald McDonald House here in Tucson in November 





Take care and stay warm. We had snow yesterday in Tucson and people were beside themselves-the snowbirds were all “we just left this” and all kinds of cranky.  The natives were “oh! Oh! Oh! Get the camera. Quick let’s make a snowman on the golf course” and standing outside with mouths open !!🤣🤣🤣. Except for the mountains, it’s all gone today




Top was taken on 2/8/19 and bottom yesterday 2/22/19

Penguin Play by Katy R

“Penguin Play” is a tag blanket I made for the Quilt Challenge 10.4 Pixel Play. It is for my 1 year old daughter who is currently obsessed with penguins. It is made of  575 one inch (finished) squares. With the border it measures 27”x 24”


This is my first time participating in this challenge and it was a lot of fun! Thank you for this opportunity!

This is my interpretation of an idea I saw on Pinterest. I wanted a colorful autumn tree and was happy to find the little bird and work him in to the picture. I started with 2” squares (unfinished) and the finished piece measures 22 x 21.

Out of box challenge for sure! Took me so long to decide the days went by!.. (actually was thinking of doing a sugar skull design!).. Threw squares down with some oblong piece.. And saw this.. kind of!.. I do have a tree thing.. Its kind of cute.. Still going to work on a sugar skull though!! This inspiration gets the imagination going yonder!!

This bee is made from over 1100 squares that finish at 1 inch. A little more than I thought I was getting into but he was fun. It is based on a cross stitch pattern by Lucy Heaton.

Pixel Penguin by Anneliese B

My name is Anneliese Bopp and I live in Sodus, NY. I created this 16 x 10 inch piece from one inch squares and quarter inch squares for the penguin. 




This piece was inspired by my trip to the Galapagos where I swam with the penguins. I used a combination of hand and machine quilting and bound it with netting and trim.

Boat Tote by Joan B

Here's my pixel quilt.  I rarely use just solids but found all this fabric in my stash.  Wanted to use a pixel photo of our sailboat but that was way more than a week project.  I'll put it on the back burner.
  

So here's my Boat Tote ready for cruising as soon as the weather improves. 



The quilted panel is 12 x 12 inches. 


 I used 1 inch which is the smallest I've ever tried to quilt. 


And of course I had to add the pirate flag which we often fly when sailing in the San Juans.

Ode to Dad by Cheryl G

Title- Ode to Dad

My father-in-law collected elephants. Sometimes people would give them to him and sometimes he would buy them in different countries when he was an evangelistic missionary. I’ve used bright colors as a border to represent Africa and India where I know he traveled. After he passed away in 2001, my husband and I inherited his elephant collection, most of which are wooden elephants. I think about him every time I see these elephants.



The mini quilt was made with one-inch squares for the elephant which is appliquéd to the green fabric. Both the elephant fabric and the green background fabric remind me of pixels also.

Cabernet Squared by Diane C

PQ 10.4--Cabernet Squared. In many of these challenges, I've tried to depict things that are important to me. Cabernet is another one of those things!  I found an illustration of grapes on the internet.  I blurred it using the sponge paint filter in Photo Shop Elements.  


Using 1” graph paper I filled in the various colored squares and used that for fabric placement.  The quilting is the outline of the grapes and the leaves.  This project measures 14” x 15”.

Thanks, again, Kim for a great theme and a fun time deep in creativity.

My own design, and yes, that is a "design feature" (missing a stripe) in the top left - aka I ran out of charm squares.  


It measures 74" x 58".  I create in Houston.

 I made this table runner using fabric from a scrap bag that I bought in Paducah last year. I figured that I better use some of that material before I go buy more! Thanks for the challenge.

Fibonacci Sunflower by Katie R

A large placemat or small runner would be an easy way to accommodate the size qualification of Bigger than a Breadbox (16"x9"). I decided to play with the Fibonacci sequence, a famous mathematical formula in which each number is the sum of the two numbers that precede it (0),1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55 etc. This sequence is said to govern much of nature and the large seeded head of a sunflower is a frequent example. Since sunflowers are my favorite flower, I decided to create "Fibonacci Sunflower".


I selected 1",2" and 3" for my stripes, played around first with their placement, bought batiks in blues and greens, then colored strips of graph paper to correspond to the colors. The 1" dark green strip would be the flower stalk, a dark color at each end would define the space. My sister came to my rescue with yellow fabric for the petals plus the use of her sewing machine. (Yay Mary Flanagan!)

More Fibonacci elements: the size is 13"x21", five batiks are used for the stripes, the sunflower has 13 petals (many flowers have petals that correspond to Fibonacci numbers including sunflowers).

More challenges included making it this week while being my dad's caregiver so I am without all of my quilting supplies but it worked out and my dad enjoyed seeing the whole process.

The Best Place I Know

This was created for an online challenge called Project Quilting. You get a week to complete a whole quilt based on a theme. Anyone can vote for their favorite.

Any quilt, 17”x9” or larger will work for this week’s challenge. I decided to make a quilt that will also work for our guild challenge ~ The Best Place I Know!

 


The best place I know is in the sunshine with family and friends!

At home in Muskego, WI or on Little Muskego Lake. Or on a winter vacation in Hawaii!!

I appliqued the lakes and quilted the roads in the Muskego block.

My quilt is 18”x18”.

I made a Convergence quilt, from Ricky Timm’s book. I used batiks that have a coffee bean and coffee cup print. I quilted it with big stitch hand quilting which does not show up at all in the photo! I don’t have a breadbox, but if I did I would more than likely keep my coffee stuff in it!

Bigger than a Breadbox by Annerieke O

I made 'the bigger as a breadbox' in 1 day.
It was really fun to do.

I spray glued the batting on the back fabric and spray glued the little fabric pieces on top of the batting.



This is stitched with the machine. Then I made the orange layer (also spray glued) and drew the grid on top.



This I zigzagged with the machine and then I cut out the forms out of the top layer.
