Who will get to use this house? by Jacomina

My challenge was to pull this together while traveling between two continents. My daughter received a scrap bag of samples from an industrial designer and between the sample books of wool for suits (@ $60-200/yard!!) and fancy dress shirts of the finest cotton ever, I pulled out these scraps and used them as they came. I folded the chiffon samples roughly into heart shapes for the courting birds.
An upholstery sample simulates a nest hole in the tree.

The back is cut from a table cloth. The design is called "Swiss Chalet", and with cockerels and chickens, it complements the "house" and "birds" theme. The Quilting of hearts is barely visible on the picture of the back.

It has just a zigzag raw edge finish. At its widest, it is 18 by 15 inches

Because my daughter called this the most depressing quilt I have ever made, I glued on a small green scrap, the hope for spring.

"Who will get to use this house?"
The courting couples or the laser focused birds whose silhouettes you see in the sky?

Created by Jacomina de Regt for the Project QUILTING 15.1 Bird House Challenge.
