Curiosity by Eileen

I am combining this challenge with another activity to do every year. I follow Gretchen Rubin’s Happier podcast and she encourages us to find a word for the year. Each year I use paper piecing and hang the word in my sewing room.

And this year my word is curiosity. I aim to be more curious about things and people to learn more and understand more.

Kaffee Quilt by Teri D

I just learned about this challenge from my quilt guild!

I love Kaffe Fassett fabrics so I thought it would be fun to make it with wild fabrics.

I’m also using this as a chance to practice free motion quilting since it’s always a challenge for me!

Gumballs by Hannah D

 Title: "Gumballs"

This is my first attempt at a clamshell quilt. I wanted to make it a bit more interesting so I added the random contrasting stripes to some of the shells. I didn't have a specific design in mind when I started. I just kept making clamshells and rearranging them until I got a layout I was happy with. It ended up reminding me of a pile of gumballs. The white background was quilted in a grid pattern with the lines just over 1/4" apart. The finished size is 18" x 18".

Circle of Life by Diane C

Here is my PQ 13.1 project—Circle of Life.  It’s  33” square and will be donated to our guild’s newborn quilt project.  Since it’s intended as a baby quilt, I used medium values and pastel colors.  I’m sure a young family will get enjoyment from my work.

Excited to be involved this year!

This Strip and Flip baby quilt was my first project of the new year. It is for a New Year's baby boy born to a friend of ours! Measures 42x45 inches. Backed it with soft flannel for some cozy warmth! Pattern is a good stash buster and very easy! Looking forward to the next challenge!
