Diamond Safari by Chris C

 Almost didn't do this! On Facebook I'll post the other possible first thoughts since this week has been so crazy. But I decided to quilt and bind this start from early in the week this morning! And in a hurry I for the first time in 20 years got a pleat in in the backing! Yikes!

Let's call it Diamond Safari. Made from leftover blocks from my niece's wedding quilt I made 10 years ago. She went on a safari for her honeymoon.

Nature ... Priceless

 "Nature...Priceless."  It was diamonds in the center of the flowers, in the sky, and on the ground. 

 Had fun making it, but not sure how to link up... Uses terms that I have never heard before....

Diamond Star Pincushion by Teri D

 I made an adorable star pincushion I found on Pinterest for the Project QUILTING 13.4 Mining for Diamonds Challenge. It was the first time I did EPP and set-in seams.

I definitely learned what not to do on this project. I had used Quilters Select sheets on another appliqué project. I loved how I didn’t have to remove the paper, and it made the appliqué stand out. I tried it on the pincushion. It made it difficult to turn right side out, so a lot of my hand stitching ripped out. Then I had to resew several seams. Very frustrating!

It’s stuffed with walnut shells. I’m just hoping they stay in the pincushion.

Thank you for doing these challenges. I’ve tried something new on all of them so far. I’m having so much fun with them.

13.4 – Mining for Diamonds – Challenge 4 of Project QUILTING Season 13

title: Fading Diamonds

My project was inspired by the "Double Diamond Fade Pattern" designed by Elise Lea for Robert Kaufmann.

I saw it a while ago and I liked the construction principle based on triangles on squares. So the current topic was my opportunity to realize it.

I made it row by row starting at the bottom row with HST triangles and gradually decreasing the triangles until they disappeared in the top row.

Finished top size was 19x19 inch, so I sewed a pillowcase from it.

Diamond Hexagon Pillow by Caroline MVF

Bonjour!!

How about Diamonds in Hexagons??? If you zoom in the center “green Diamond” is printed with green Nickel ore. My husband is a mineur :-))
The blue Diamond around the green one are scraps from one of his button down shirts I made for him. Light outer Diamond just scraps.

And voilà!!! Second pillow cover of the season!!

Minecraft by Terry G

I made this wall hanging for my grandson. He lives across the country from me so I don't see him in person nearly as often as I'd like, but we spend time online playing minecraft. As soon as I saw this week's challenge I knew I had to make this for him.

Thank you for running project quilting! It really motivates me to start and FINISH something.

Coors Field by Hannah D

Size: Approximately 30" x 30"

What better diamonds are there than baseball diamonds?! I'm a big fan of the Colorado Rockies so I decided to make a map of their stadium Coors Field. I used raw edge applique to make all of the sections and the field. 

This was the first time I've tried to bind such an irregularly shaped quilt. There were multiple times this week that I regretted choosing such a complicated project. It took multiple late nights to finish, but I managed to get it done in time and I'm very happy with the result. Now I just need the baseball season to start!

Diamond Star by Barb R

I decided to make a lone star child's quilt for Project Linus for my Project QUILTING 13.4 Mining for Diamonds quilt challenge, since the shapes are diamonds. 

I used colorful fabrics and a turtle print flannel for the back. I love the rich colors of the batiks.

 It finished at 45". The pattern I used was the Lone Star Jelly Roll pattern by Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics. 

I stitched in the ditch to quilt it.

When I thought of diamonds, I thought of Beyonce's lyric, "if you liked it then you shoulda put a (diamond) ring on it." This is my homage to Beyonce, the Queen B.

This 6 inch x 6 inch square was a pattern from Irene at Sugaridoo.com. I don't usually follow sewing directions and patterns very well, so this was a challenge for me.

Crinkle Toy by Jacomina

My submission is a baby crinkle toy for the Project QUILTING 13.4 Mining for Diamonds. I made several in the last month and I realized that this little fellow is truly mining for diamonds, all night long.

The crinkling is caused by food safe bag from a box of cereal or a bag of chips. This is very light and very young babies can hold on to it and their uncontrolled movements produce noise.

Also attached is a picture of the pinwheel block I had saved as a potential for showing off Kaffe Fassett fabrics if I enlarged the pinwheels. Thanks to the challenge I now know to never try this. Inset seams, precision sewing etc are not my passion
