Oak Leaf in Silhouette by Lee T

My name is Lee Toole, I live in northeastern Pennsylvania. I created a freeform quilted wall-hanging based on a picture taken a few weeks ago. It had snowed the night before and it was warming up, so snow was melting quickly but I encountered this oak leaf stuck to the paved walkway with snow clinging to it and melting around it.

I printed the pic on cotton fabric, cut away all the white areas, fused to white felt, machine stitched and stippled through felt, batting and cotton backing and simply zig-zag stitched the perimeter. Originally was stumped by the theme, then remembered the pictures and enjoyed! Kept it simple so I would be able to finish in time as opposed to the first theme which started out too big and kept growing and still is incomplete! I will finish someday.
