Virus Vibrancy by Diane C

PQ 11.6—

As Kim said on Facebook this evening, things certainly have changed in a week’s time.  The World is now upside down!  As one who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am on the leading edge of the uproar.  I made 3 trips to the supermarket in 4 days from Thursday through Monday, making sure I had everything I needed for my husband and me. I’d like to have more fresh vegetables, but they are a weekly purchase, so I didn’t go overboard.  Our Shelter in Place order came down yesterday.  Those of us 65 and older are not supposed to go out for any reason and everything is closed down except essential services.  Grocery stores, banks, medical services, hardware stores, are open, coffee shops and restaurants are open for takeout only.

Needless to say, I am nervous, as are we all.

My project for PQ11.6 is entitled Virus Vibrancy.  We can only hope that this virus loses its vibrancy VERY soon.  We must, and we will, shine through.  We need to embrace the comfort of our quilts.

Originally, I was going to surround the clock with dark and not very vibrant colors, but having a date (April 7th) when this MIGHT all be over has helped my mood (even though I doubt it will be resolved by then).  I’m not hopeful, so I chose cool colors instead.  I’m not feeling much fire and light right now.

The background of this 6” finished block is paper pieced with the clock design appliqued on top.

It’s going to take some time for this crisis to be resolved.  How long, we just don’t know right now.  (((Hugs))) to all.  Stay healthy and stay strong!
