“A Stitch in Time Saves Wine”. I decided that a wonky block would be a good way to illustrate the theme. Accurate cutting and piecing eliminate the need to rip out stitches and stitch again.
I cut out the 9 patch, then diagonally removed a quarter of an inch from one side of most of the pieces, creating crooked pieces. I wanted to make a wonky block that wasn’t too wonky, but could be easily seen as such. I should have put in the center square upside down, but I didn’t think of that until it was too late. Then I thought, “A block this bad might be the work of a little too much wine, so I illustrated that in the quilting.” This project measures 15” x 13”.
