I've been collecting photos on Facebook, putting them into albums I might use for inspiration. PQ16.2 "Ombre" gave me the opportunity to use this simple picture of a snowflake. While I'm not totally thrilled with the outcome, it was a good lesson and gave me the chance to practice thread painting and work on improving attaching my binding on the back. I've often struggled with that but recently I learned using a stitch-in-the -ditch foot is the key to a more-finished binding. This one is perhaps the best I've ever done!
This piece finished out at 9" x 11" and is pieced with appliqued limbs that were thread painted; the snowflake is thread painted and the entire block has been quilted in a small loopy fashion using Madeira Rayon thread.
I was delighted to find a backing in my stash of fat quarters that worked so well with the work! Thanks, Kim and Trisha for another great Challenge!Created by Robyn Wimmer for the Project QUILTING 16.2 Ombre Challenge.
