Hourglass Mini Placemat by Teri D

Hourglass Mini Placemat

I originally thought about making a bunch of little hourglass blocks with bigger blocks for a border. Then I realized that was exactly the same as the quilt (Color Me Crazy) I started several months ago! I really didn't have any other ideas. I just kept thinking that I really just needed to make something for my desk at school. I tend to eat my lunch at my desk. They heat from my Lean Cuisines already messed up the finish in one spot. I've been just piling up a bunch of paper towels every day, so it doesn't make a new spot. I decided to make an Iowa State mini placemat, but I didn't like any of my "solid" fabrics. I found some fun prints in my stash for a red and yellow placemat, which is the Iowa State Colors. My third graders will love it!

Created by Teri Dorn for the Project QUILTING 15.4 Hourglass challenge.
