Into the Fire by Cherese

Into the Fire is my entry for #projectquilting 9.3 Bold and Brave.

Fire fighters are some of the bravest people I can think of. Ever since I was little I have been afraid of fire. In elementary school when we had to watch the Fire safety video, I got so scared I had to leave class. As a young Girl Scout, I had to light a match for a bbq as a badge requirement.  I did it, but it was super scary.

As a young adult, the Los Padres Fire burned the hill in my neighborhood. A house 4 doors down had the fire burn down their back fence. The fire fighters were amazing. No residences were lost in that fire, but it was close.

Every day these brave men and women risk their lives to face my fear head on. I hope this quilt honors that bravery.

The Quilt is 13"x17" and is pieced with a bargello-style background with applique trees and fire fighter. It was inspired by many of the images I saw during the recent California wildfires.
