FAITH HOPE LOVE by Vicki Bartels

This is a pattern from J Michelle Watts entitled FAITH HOPE LOVE that has been on my quilting list for about 5 years now. The minute I seen your blog I knew it was time to get it done.image1 (7) My hope was that I got it completed and hope that I read all the requirements correctly and hope that my church loves it as I will hang it there. Looking forward to the next challenge.image2 (2)

An Apple a Day! by Diane C

Here's my September Challenge project, An Apple a Day! (12 1/2" x 18") When the quilt was almost finished, I realized that, as a retired teacher, I probably should have done something about an apple for the teacher.

But it was the emoji apple that popped into my head from the first day and stayed there.

Fremont Festival of Arts. We Only Go for the Wine. by Diane C

As I said last month, I wasn’t going to do this month’s challenge, so I could get back to “more important” quilting,  but somehow even when I said it, I knew I’d do the challenge anyway.

Our local festival is the Fremont Festival of the Arts, which bills itself as “California’s Premier Art, Wine and Music Festival”.  It is certainly the largest street festival here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and this year was celebrating its 35th anniversary.

Fremont Festival of the Arts We Only Go for the Wine by Diane Crawford

My challenge project this month is entitled, “Fremont Festival of the Arts.  We Only Go for the Wine”.  I’ve illustrated it with my first “modern” quilt, representing the artwork offered by the vendors.  But, we don’t buy much in the way of arts and crafts when we go our festival.  We really go just to try new wines and walk the whole area, looking for any of our friends who might be there at the same time.  It’s a fun morning in the sun.  My project measures 24” x 21” and gave me a good palate on which to practice pebbles (having recently learned how to quilt them from Mel Beach at a workshop at my guild) and to practice some ruler work as well (learned earlier this year at another guild workshop taught by Inger Blood).

Pineapple Paradise by Diane C

Introducing Pineapple Paradise (15" x 23").

The thought of pineapples made me think of Hawaii. I found an illustration on Print Shop of a tropical island. Here's my interpretation, using pineapple blocks to create the important features.

Summer Rocks by Diane C

Summer Rocks—You can reach right up and touch the sky.  This project is 13” x 13”.  As a Baby Boomer, I thought that some summer rock and roll would fill the bill quite well.

96--PQ June Summer Rocks

My design was inspired by a couple of pictures I found  on Google Images with hands reaching toward the sky.  When I sing this song, I always say, “When the weather is high.”  I’m partial to lyrics that actually rhyme.
