Abacadrius Scrabbles by Amanda R

'My happy place!' for my studio!... Is a sort of scrabble game form on hand dyed fabric. Applique and free motion quilting. Letters painted on felt plus some heat fix sparkles.... Quite a mixture!!

Abecedary/Abecedarium Poetry by Carol K

I finished. I was inspired to look up Abecedarium and became quite fascinated with the word-- couldn't stop saying it-- and just began to play with words.

I wrote a few poems and a pangram. They are on my facebook post.

This is all commercial cotton. I left the edges raw again....just a stitch near the edges. I don't mind that as it is for a wall. 

The goal for this year of PQ was for me to finish a project for each challenge, no excuses. I did it and am so pleased with having done so.

This week’s theme was to be inspired by the alphabet so I decided to make a tumbling block quilt with the letters embroidered on the blocks.

Microwave Bowl Caddies by Barb

Did not believe I would have a 10.5 Challenge entry as my week was filled with other then quilting appointments!!    

It sounded so fun and I love to hand embroider; applique, and embellish .. I had lots and lots of grand 'ideas'... Come noon today, Sat.--less then 24 hrs from deadline ...I'd not begun..., my machine was calling, the fabric was ready and once I scaled, WAY DOWN, my grand ideas....its DONE... and ready to post,  these bowls do NOT photograph well at all...

This is my completed 10.5 “abecedarius” Challenge entry..... .....two wonderful, useful microwave bowl 'caddies'...With machine letters, not alphabet soup as was one of my more 'grand' ideas, but sort of stayed on the theme......used just 3 fat quarters [that are actually for a Guild Challenge as well].... 

 I sure am getting a lot out of this week's Challenge... Thanks for the fun!!!🥰 ... the 4th picture is the bit left over of the three fat quarters... would have been fancy applique had I got going sooner!!!! 🤣

When I was younger I loved to read Beverly Cleary.  I loved Ramona.  She was clever and creative. One thing that has struck with me for years was that she always turned the Q for her last name into a cat. 

Most notably was her name card on her desk at school. A substitute teacher even called her Ramona Kitty-cat. This little quilt pays homage to that.

My name is Anneliese Bopp and this is my challenge quilt for the Project QUILTING Abecedarius Challenge. 

I went with the Viking Runic alphabet surrounding  Yggdrasil, the Norse Tree of Life. I have a rug hooked tree of life hanging in my dining room from a past life (before quilting). I guess I have a thing for trees.

When Life Gives You Lemons by Shirley C

My thought process for this challenge began with thinking about vegetables. A for asparagus, etc. When I woke up the next morning I was thinking LEMONS. I liked that idea because the L, M, and N are sequential just like A B C. 

I titled this “When Life Gives You Lemons.” I fused and then stitched the lemons and letters, and did echo  quilting around them. Of course that doesn’t show up because it’s black on black! Size is approximately 12 x 16.

Plan to Quilt by Joan B

Here's my entries for PQ 10.5 Abecedarian.  Looking through quilt quotes I found this one was so perfect for my year. 

 I just retired from 31 years of teaching and everyone asks this question.  Now I have the perfect answer.  I used scraps to create this puffy quilt cushion for my sewing chair. 

I added a few strands of tied embroidery thread for accent. Size is 13 1/2" x 12".  Thanks again for all you do and for our great sponsors for prizes.

A B C - A Black Crow

In keeping with my commitment to make usable items for these challenges, my entry is a throw pillow.  Wool appliqué on white linen.  I loved this challenge.  I was able to use my most favorite decorating motif.  Crows, I love them!  I have many things around my home with crows on them.  I find crows to be intelligent, entertaining, and to have a sense of humor.  I recognize I may be a majority of one.  That is ok with me.

I am Theresa Bradley.  I quilt in Powder Springs,  Ga. 

I love this quote.  It suits my style. I did a structured block in the bottom morphing into the hummingbird in the style I prefer. It is quilted with colors of the rainbow springing from the traditional block. The border is wonky. And instead of weaving in the thread ends, I braided them. It was such fun to make.

Alphabet Soup by Kiry K

I just found out about this {Project QUILTING} Challenge and I’m very excited about it!  I was eating lunch, soup of course, and browsing Facebook when I found you. I got right to work and created “Alphabet Soup”.  

It’s about 11”x11”, and has insulbrite batting so I can use it as a trivet or hot pad, or maybe a mug rug.  Can you please link my project to this weeks (10.5) Challenge.

J is for JOY by Vicki B

J is for JOY. 

I’ve always said I was going to choose a word at the beginning of the year for inspiration in my life. Never seem to make the time. This was perfect timing.

 Snow storm and -20 degree wind chills here in Nebraska. I was very joyful that I didn’t have to leave the house.  It will be hanging on my sewing room door for a reminder every day to look for the joy daily.
