For this week's Project Quilting I took inspiration from my Grandparents' cuckoo clock. This is a clock they got in Germany in 1987 in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary.
I always loved seeing this clock at their house as I grew up. After my Grandmother passed last year I asked to have this clock. I worked with a clock maker to fix it and now have it refurbished and running for my kids to enjoy.
Since this is the inspiration, I wanted to take elements of it for my piece, not necessarily remake the clock. I looked to the clock for flower colors and chose to represent the clock aspect by using 12 flowers. Just like the clock, everything is mirror imaged.
With quilting I added the cuckoo bird, his door and a pinecone.
