I made this little mat with paper piece hexies and thought looks like a saffire ring (I wish!) as my birthstone is saffire for September.. I machine appliqued on my hand dyed background then quilted the lines around.. Will be a nice centre piece for a vase of flowers!

Birthstone by Maren R

3 common blocks was the first i did not manage to complete. I made a design with curvy blocks and i really liked it and then i got the 16 year old dog i just adopted and she was sick and every 2-3 hours we needed to go for a pee and even in the night.....and i did not want to rush it.

So she is better and Birthstones was really a challenge because i really did not like my colours. So i decided to pick a background fabric which almost had them all and which i thought ugly and put it in the back of a cat Portrait. I still don't like the colours but its in the back and i will only look at it again, when i do the binding again by hand because with the maschine i was off🫢

I really love project Quilting.
And most of the time i am so excited that i forget to take pictures from the process until i am almost finished.

Badge Holder by Maya M

Mine is badge holder in my birthstone colors - August.

I am attending Quiltcon and decided to make a badge with fabric made out of green shards.

The shards were placed onto fabric with fusible applied to the surface and ironed down. I quilted the made fabric 1" apart and used it to make the badge holder.

Birthstone Project by Jacomina

I learned something new with this challenge

The Taurus is the only zodiac sign that has two full precious gemstones:  the emerald and the sapphire. Emerald is not only Taurus’ birthstone, but also the one from May.  And I learned that sapphires come in a wide variety of colors. There are also pink, orange, yellow, purple, green and even colorless sapphires. The rarest color is a mix of orange and pink, it is called a
 padparadscha sapphire.

So that’s what I used: emerald green surrounded by padparadscha., a fabric with pink and orange!  The front of this lined bag is quilted with sparkling green metallic thread.

Starry Night by Nancy H

 Starry Night PQ 16.4 Birthstone

This week’s theme is  birthstone. My birthstone is diamond so I have to use white in my quilt. I chose some white fabric with silver stars in it and it made me think of the Starry Night painting by Van Gogh. I created my version with fabric and thread. I thought the flamingoes would enjoy the starry night!

My quilt is 7”x5”.  #ProjectQuilting #pqSeason16

This was created for an online challenge called Project Quilting. You get a week to complete a whole quilt based on a theme.  Each week is a different theme.  Here is a link to this season 16: https://kimlapacek.com/project-quilting-season-16

I decided to make all 6 PQ challenges 7”x5” this year so I’ll have a set of postcards when I’m done.  For the label, I’m writing on the back with a fabric marker.
