As I said last month, I wasn’t going to do this month’s challenge, so I could get back to “more important” quilting, but somehow even when I said it, I knew I’d do the challenge anyway.
Our local festival is the Fremont Festival of the Arts, which bills itself as “California’s Premier Art, Wine and Music Festival”. It is certainly the largest street festival here in the San Francisco Bay Area, and this year was celebrating its 35th anniversary.
My challenge project this month is entitled, “Fremont Festival of the Arts. We Only Go for the Wine”. I’ve illustrated it with my first “modern” quilt, representing the artwork offered by the vendors. But, we don’t buy much in the way of arts and crafts when we go our festival. We really go just to try new wines and walk the whole area, looking for any of our friends who might be there at the same time. It’s a fun morning in the sun. My project measures 24” x 21” and gave me a good palate on which to practice pebbles (having recently learned how to quilt them from Mel Beach at a workshop at my guild) and to practice some ruler work as well (learned earlier this year at another guild workshop taught by Inger Blood).
