Silly Tomatoes

Silly Tomatoes Quilt for the Focus Through the Prism Challenge.

This color challenge using the beautiful scarlet red in the Cherrywood said "tomatoes" to me. My young nephews were here to visit over spring break (they were thrilled with the Georgia weather and did lots of digging ). I did buy 2 large  plants,  we got them in the ground , and I send a photo to their  Mom to let them see the plant growth. I varied the size of the reds in the pieced blocks, and enjoyed the off set with strip pieced samples from  a class but had to improvise to come up with the correct size for the challenge. The hands are actually drawn from photos of Lincoln and Sully's hands, then raw edge appliqued.

  1. I really like all the red monkey wrenches and the tomatoes showing through. What fun for the kids to have had a chance to plant with you.
