Squirrelin' Around by Jane D

I am lucky enough to split my time creating between Madison and Door County in WI. This is my second attempt at a challenge quilt and I knew I wanted to try some new things with it. I’ve always wanted to do a ‘crazy quilt’ and also to try ‘quilt as you go’ plus I have a new sewing machine so it was great fun to experiment with some of the embroidery stitches.

I really liked the squirrel fabric and also the floral fabric included in the Kim packet so they became the centers of the squares. The squirrel squares are arranged in a circle so I named the quilt “Squirrelin’ Around”. It is 34.5” high X 35” wide.

Recycled by Beverly H

Lots of firsts in this project, the plaid is mostly from recycled men’s shirts I worked on last year when I wasn’t able to do any sewing.

I’m not enamored with the binding though the idea seemed great. I had used the remaining fabric on the back already. Possibly longer pieces of the plaid in the binding would have looked less choppy. Overall, fun project. Thank you for the push to “just do it”!
